Wild 3, Avalanche 0: Darcy Kuemper turned aside 30 shots for his second straight shutout to open the season as visiting Minnesota dominated again to complete a home-and-home sweep of Colorado.

Kuemper, who posted his fourth career blanking, made 46 total saves in keeping Colorado without a goal over 120 minutes. Charlie Coyle, Jason Zucker and Zach Parise scored for Minnesota, who netted goals in five of the six periods against the Avalanche.

Semyon Varlamov made 31 saves to absorb the loss for the second straight game. Colorado went 0-for-3 with the man advantage and is scoreless in seven power-play chances to open the season.

Coyle recorded the only goal of the opening period, redirecting defenseman Ryan Suter's wrist shot from point-blank range past a fooled Varlamov at 1:51. As it did in Thursday's season opener, Minnesota dominated the first 20 minutes, finishing with a 15-9 advantage in shots.

Zucker extended the lead with 8:10 remaining in the middle session, one-timing Thomas Vanek's pass from the middle of the slot past Varlamov's glove. The Avalanche couldn't solve Kuemper the rest of the way, and Parise iced things with an empty-netter in the final seconds.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Avalanche D Erik Johnson was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for elbowing Wild LW Erik Haula in the head 2:23 into the second period. ... Parise finished with a game-high 10 shots. ... Colorado D Tyson Barrie is minus-6 through two games.
