Blues 4, Flames 1: Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk and Paul Stastny recorded three assists apiece while Brian Elliott made 23 saves as host St. Louis dominated in its first victory of the season.

Joakim Lindstrom scored less than a minute into the contest while captain David Backes, blue-liner Alex Pietrangelo and Vladimir Tarasenko added goals for the Blues, who rebounded from Thursday’s season-opening loss to the New York Rangers with a crisp performance. Elliott blanked the Flames over the first 55 minutes before his shutout bid ended during a Calgary power play.

Jonas Hiller, who started Calgary's loss to Vancouver on Wednesday before sitting out Thursday’s victory at Edmonton, made 35 saves but gave up a pair of goals in each of the first two periods. Curtis Glencross scored late in the third for the Flames, who finished 1-for-6 on the power play and are 2-for-12 through three games.

St. Louis jumped on the Flames quickly as Lindstrom took Stastny’s pass and beat Hiller 48 seconds into the game. Backes scored on the power play at 8:44 of the first and Pietrangelo netted a man-advantage tally at 3:12 of the second, with Shattenkirk and Stastny notching the assists on both goals.

Tarasenko pushed St. Louis' advantage to 4-0 less than four minutes later, burying a loose puck in the slot. The Blues outshot the Flames 19-7 in the second period and 39-24 overall as they defeated Calgary for the third time in the last four meetings.
