Stars 3, Predators 2 (SO): Vernon Fiddler scored after falling down in the third round to extend the shootout and Tyler Seguin netted the decisive goal on Dallas' next attempt as visiting Nashville officially was eliminated from playoff contention.

Defenseman Alex Goligoski and captain Jamie Benn tallied in regulation for the Stars, who moved two points ahead of Phoenix for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Kari Lehtonen turned aside 27 shots as Dallas extended its home winning streak to four games.

Gabriel Bourque scored both goals and Pekka Rinne made 28 saves for the Predators, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.

Dallas took an early lead as Fiddler made a pass from along the right-wing boards to a rushing Goligoski, who unleashed a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle that beat Rinne to the glove side 2:23 into the contest. Nashville pulled even at 1:22 of the second, when Bourque fired the puck past Lehtonen from the left hash marks.

Benn restored the lead for the Stars at 8:16 with a shot from the inner edge of the left circle during a 2-on-1 rush that went between Rinne's pads. The Predators tied it midway through the third as Paul Gaustad intercepted a pass behind the net and set up Bourque for a shot from the slot.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bourque's only other two-goal effort in the NHL came in the playoffs against Detroit on April 11, 2012. ... Dallas improved to 7-0-1 in its last eight home games. ... Seguin had his four-game goal-scoring streak halted.
