Wild 4, Bruins 3 (SO): Captain Mikko Koivu scored the lone goal in the second round of the shootout and added a pair of assists as host Minnesota clinched the top wild card in the Western Conference.

Jason Pominville scored twice and Ryan Suter netted the tying goal with 65 seconds left in regulation as the Wild improved to 5-0-1 in their last six games. Ilya Bryzgalov made 21 saves and turned aside all three shots in the bonus format to improve to 7-0-3 since joining Minnesota.

Reilly Smith and Loui Eriksson had power-play goals and Patrice Bergeron also tallied to continue his scoring spree for Boston, which opened a three-point lead over St. Louis in the race for the Presidents' Trophy. Tuukka Rask made 21 saves as the Bruins fell for the third time in four games (1-1-2).

Pominville halted a seven-game goalless drought 65 seconds into the contest, hammering a one-timer from the left point past the glove of Rask, but Smith answered on the power play less than two minutes later when he intercepted a clearing attempt and beat Bryzgalov through a screen. Bergeron cleaned up a rebound at 10:28 but Pominville knotted in 28 seconds later, steering home Matt Moulson's crossing pass into the crease.

Boston capitalized on another power-play opportunity late of the second period when Eriksson tipped in captain Zdeno Chara's shot from the point with 3:42 left in the session. The Wild, who clinched a playoff slot before taking the ice in the third by virtue of Columbus' win over Phoenix, forced overtime when Suter scored from the slot with Bryzgalov off for an extra skater.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bergeron netted his 10th goal in 11 games to give him 29, two shy of his career high established in 2005-06. ... Pominville's first two-goal game since Nov. 1 left him one short of his third career 30-goal season. ... Smith scored for the first time in 11 games and became the fifth Boston player to reach 20 goals this season.
