Blackhawks 4, Blues 2: Jeremy Morin scored a goal and set up Patrick Sharp's go-ahead tally late in the second period as host Chicago won its third straight game.

Marcus Kruger and Ben Smith also scored while Corey Crawford turned aside 21 shots for the Blackhawks, who moved within two points of second-place Colorado in the Central Division.

Jaden Schwartz netted a power-play goal and Vladimir Sobotka tallied from the left faceoff circle as St. Louis pulled within 3-2 with 2:02 remaining in the third period. Smith ended the comeback attempt with an empty-net goal for his third tally in as many contests as the Blues lost their second in a row and remained two points behind idle Boston in the race for the Presidents' Trophy and saw their division lead over Colorado reduced to four.

With the game tied at 1-1, Andrew Shaw absorbed a hit to advance the puck and Morin skated in on a 2-on-1 rush before setting up Sharp for a one-timer from the left circle. Sharp's blast sailed off the left post and in with 27 seconds remaining in the middle period for his team-leading 33rd goal. Krueger doubled the advantage 56 seconds into the third by tapping home a loose puck after Joakim Nordstrom's initial shot caromed off both the right post and the back of Brian Elliott (31 saves).

Schwartz unleashed a pair of blasts from the left circle - the first was blocked by Blackhawks defenseman Sheldon Brookbank, but the second sailed between the pads of Crawford at 1:57 of the first period for his 24th goal. Chicago answered 8:34 into the second as Bryan Bickell's wrist shot handcuffed Elliott and Morin tapped home the loose puck.
