Blue Jackets 2, Flyers 0: Sergei Bobrovsky stymied his former team with a sensational 37-save performance as visiting Columbus earned a pivotal victory over Philadelphia.

Facing the Flyers in Philadelphia for the first time since being dealt to the Blue Jackets in June 2012, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner denied four Flyers power-play chances as Columbus moved within a point of idle Detroit for the first Eastern Conference wild-card spot and three clear of ninth-place Toronto. Defenseman James Wisniewski recorded a goal and an assist while Brandon Dubinsky added a third-period tally as the Blue Jackets won in Philadelphia for the first time in franchise history (1-5-1) and climbed within two points of the Flyers for third place in the Metropolitan Division.

Ex-Blue Jacket Steve Mason stopped 25 shots as Philadelphia fell four points behind the New York Rangers for second in the division. The Flyers have dropped three in a row (0-1-2) and five of six (1-3-2).

After a scoreless first period, the Flyers carried the play for most of the second but couldn't beat Bobrovsky despite peppering him with 17 shots. The Blue Jackets finally broke the deadlock during a man advantage at 17:07, when Wisniewski gathered a pass from Mark Letestu at the end line to the right of the crease and hooked a low shot past Mason.

Dubinsky provided Columbus with some breathing room 3:20 into the third, using his skate to deftly redirect a shot from the slot by Cam Atkinson between Mason's pads. The Blue Jackets' defense took over from there - giving Bobrovsky a break in the process - by limiting Philadelphia to three shots over the opening 12 minutes before the Flyers finished with a late-game flurry.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Blue Jackets LW Nick Foligno left the game late in the third period with a lower-body injury and did not return. ... Philadelphia is 0-for-11 with the man advantage during its three-game skid. ... Bobrovsky missed the teams' first meeting in Philadelphia back on Dec. 19 with a groin strain.
