Troy Terry scored with 26 seconds left in regulation to give the Anaheim Ducks a 3-2 victory over the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday.
With the puck deep in Winnipeg's zone, defenseman Neal Pionk tried a clearance attempt, but Anaheim's Frank Vatrano deflected it. The loose puck went to Terry, who was open in front of the net, for the game-winning goal.
Vatrano had two goals and an assist, and Radko Gudas had two assists.
The Ducks are on a two-game winning streak, and Wednesday's victory snapped a long drought against the Jets. Anaheim was 0-8-0 against them, dating back to the 2021-22 season.
Lukas Dostal stopped 21 of 23 shots for his seventh win of the season.
Mark Scheifele and Gabriel Vilardi scored for the Jets, and Kyle Connor had two assists.
Jets goaltender Eric Comrie stopped 28 of 31 shots. Comrie had to be very sharp early, as Anaheim outshot Winnipeg 12-4 during a scoreless first period.
The Ducks kept up the pressure with a 10-4 shots edge in the second period, and broke through on the scoreboard at the 4:45 mark. Gudas fired a shot from just inside the blue line that Vatrano tipped in.
It took the Jets until the 9:49 mark to record their first on-target shot of the second period. However, a questionable roughing call on Anaheim's Ross Johnston allowed Winnipeg's league-leading power play to spark the offense.
At 10:24 of the second, Nikolaj Ehlers' pass from the circle found Vilardi in front for the conversion. It was Vilardi's sixth power-play goal and 14th goal overall this season.
A tremendous individual effort from Connor led to Winnipeg's go-ahead goal 4:13 into the third period. Connor took the puck behind his own net, raced down the ice into Anaheim's zone, then passed to Scheifele in the circle for a one-timer.
Vatrano struck again at the 15:14 mark, as the forward's long shot beat a screened Comrie for the equalizer.
