Dominik Kubalik and Claude Giroux each scored two goals and the visiting Ottawa Senators closed the game with three straight goals to defeat Toronto 6-3 on Wednesday night, handing the Maple Leafs their fifth loss in six games.
Tim Stutzle added a goal and three assists and Jakob Chychrun had a goal and an assist for Ottawa. Mathieu Joseph tallied three assists and Giroux added an assist for a three-point game.
Joonas Korpisalo stopped 27 shots for the Senators, who won for the second time in seven games.
William Nylander had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, stretching his season-opening points streak to 13 games. Tyler Bertuzzi and Nicholas Robertson also scored goals, while John Tavares added two assists and Joseph Woll made 21 saves for Toronto.
Nylander scored his seventh goal of the season at 5:47 of the first period on a 34-footer from the slot during a power play. Travis Harmonic was off for interference.
Kubalik tied the game at 7:11 with his third goal of the season, a 52-foot slap shot along the ice that hit Woll's skate. Tyler Kleven made the pass to set up the goal.
Korpisalo made a superb save on Auston Matthews at 19:03 of the first to keep it a tie, as Toronto led 12-10 in shots on goal after one period.
Giroux scored his fourth at 1:04 of the second period from the left of the goal after Joseph's attempt deflected off Woll's pad.
Bertuzzi tied the game with his third goal of the season at 4:16 of the second, knocking in a rebound.
Chychrun scored his fifth goal of the season at 14:06 of the second on a shot from the left circle to give the Senators the lead again.
Toronto had a 20-18 edge on shots on goal after two periods.
Robertson tied the game with his first goal of the season at 7:42 of the third period on a two-on-one break with Max Domi, but the Senators reeled off three goals in 3:11 to put the game away.
Kubiak scored his fourth of the season at 11:56 on a power play, followed by Stutzle's third goal of the season at 12:41 and Giroux's fifth at 15:07 -- a sequence that led the fans at Scotiabank Arena to boo the Maple Leafs.
