Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier had one goal and one assist apiece to lift the host Philadelphia Flyers past the winless Arizona Coyotes 3-0 on Tuesday.
Scott Laughton added a goal for the Flyers, who produced all of the game's goals in the third period.
Flyers goaltender Carter Hart earned the shutout with 29 saves. It was Hart's third career shutout and first of the season.
Arizona goaltender Karel Vejmelka stopped 31 shots, but the Coyotes dropped to 0-9-1 this season.
The Flyers were awarded a power play late in the first period and despite two solid chances by Giroux, they were unable to score.
Arizona nearly went ahead 1-0 at 17:45 when Phil Kessel gathered a loose puck in front, but Hart slid across the crease to make a stellar save.
The Coyotes controlled the offensive pace early in the second as Victor Soderstrom fired a shot from the point at 15:24, which was saved and covered up by Hart.
Philadelphia managed only two shots on goal through the first 10 minutes of the second.
Cam Atkinson appeared to give the Flyers a one-goal lead at 12:46 as he kept chopping at the puck. The officials ruled that Vejmelka had already secured the puck in his glove before Atkinson scored.
The Flyers had a strong scoring chance in the final few seconds of the second, but Vejmelka denied Laughton as the buzzer sounded.
The Flyers' James van Riemsdyk and Nicolas Aube-Kubel each had good scoring opportunities in the opening six minutes of the third.
Philadelphia's pressure paid off at 6:54 when Couturier received a crisp pass in front and scored for a 1-0 advantage. The goal came in Couturier's 700th career game with the Flyers.
Arizona's Jakob Chychrun nearly equalized less than a minute later as his shot was deflected by Hart and into the crowd.
Vejmelka was pulled for an extra skater with 2:20 left yet he had to scamper back to the net soon after when the puck wasn't cleared. Laughton then scored at 17:51 for a 2-0 lead. Giroux added an empty-net goal at 18:23.
