Devils 5, Blue Jackets 2: Adam Henrique scored a pair of goals and host New Jersey beat Columbus for the first time in four meetings this season.

Jaromir Jagr netted his 699th career goal and Ryane Clowe also scored during a three-goal first-period blitz as the Devils improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight home games. Patrik Elias added an empty-net tally and collected a pair of assists while Cory Schneider made 17 saves as New Jersey pulled even with the Blue Jackets in the Metropolitan Division.

Artem Anisimov recorded a goal and an assist while Marian Gaborik scored in his first game since Dec. 21 for Columbus, which lost for the fourth time in five contests (1-2-2). Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 30 shots but allowed four goals for the first time since Nov. 27.

The Devils scored three times in a span of 2:45 of the opening period to seize a 3-0 lead. Clowe followed up his own shot from the slot at 6:09 before Jagr netted his team-high 18th goal during a power play 1:22 later. Henrique converted a man-advantage chance at 8:54, but Anisimov scored on a backhander from a near-impossible angle less than three minutes afterward to get Columbus on the board.

Gaborik, sidelined more than two months with a broken collarbone, got the Blue Jackets within one when, while parked in front of the net, he knocked a puck out of the air and swept it into the net at 11:42 of the middle session. The Devils answered while short-handed at 19:41, when Henrique took a lob pass from Elias and broke in alone before beating Bobrovsky to restore the two-goal lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jagr needs one goal to become the seventh player in NHL history to score 700 and is nine shy of Mike Gartner for sixth place on the all-time list. ... Anisimov snapped a nine-game goalless drought as his two points matched his total from the previous nine contests. ... Devils RW Damien Brunner suffered what was reported as a charley horse on his second shift of the game and did not return.
