Avalanche 4, Senators 3 (OT): Paul Stastny scored to forge a tie late in the third period before setting up defenseman Tyson Barrie 33 seconds into overtime as Colorado improved to 4-1-1 on its seven-game homestand.

Craig Anderson (27 saves) poke-checked the puck away from captain Gabriel Landeskog on a partial breakaway but Stastny made no mistake from in close to knot the contest at 3-3 with 2:40 remaining in the third. Stastny set up the game-winning tally as he wristed a sharp feed from behind the net to Barrie, who wired a shot from within the right circle past Anderson.

Jamie McGinn scored his fourth goal in five contests and defenseman Jan Hedja also tallied for the Avalanche, who end their home stretch Friday against the New York Islanders. Landeskog notched three assists to extend his career-best point streak to eight games and Semyon Varlamov finished with 29 saves.

Clarke MacArthur scored in his fourth consecutive contest and set up returning captain Jason Spezza for 5-on-3 power-play goal. Kyle Turris also tallied for the Senators, who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end and have dropped six straight (0-3-3) against the Avalanche.

With his team enjoying a two-man advantage, Spezza tied the game 2-2 at 12:53 of the second period after converting a feed at the left post before Turris gave Ottawa its first lead just 1:25 later. Mark Stone sent a diagonal feed to deep in the left circle for Turris, who dropped to a knee while one-timing a blast past Varlamov.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Spezza returned to the lineup after missing four games due to a hip injury. ... Anderson, traded from Colorado during the 2010-11 season, has yielded 16 goals en route to going 0-2-1 against his former team. ... Landeskog recorded three goals and eight assists on his point streak.
