Smith redirected a quick point shot by defenseman Marc Methot off a faceoff 6:42 into the third period to give Ottawa a 3-2 lead. Anderson made a glove save on a chance in the slot by Mark Scheifele 1:13 later to preserve the slim advantage and MacArthur put a forehand deke over Montoya’s right pad after Bobby Ryan forced a turnover on the forecheck with 8:31 remaining in the game.

Zibanejad found a rebound behind Montoya to open the scoring 13:34 into the first period but Byfuglien’s point shot deflected in off Senators defenseman Joe Corvo’s stick 2:03 later.
