CANUCKS 2, STARS 1: Mason Raymond had a goal and an assist as visiting Vancouver snapped a two-game skid and won for just the second time in the last six contests.

The Canucks ended a two-game losing streak to the Stars and improved to 7-2 in their last eight meetings with Dallas.

Dan Hamhuis found Raymond parked next to the net with a cross-ice pass to open scoring at the 4:46 mark of the first period. Raymond, who was a healthy scratch three games ago after falling out of favor with coach Alain Vigneault, scored for the first time since Feb. 26.

He would set up Kevin Bieksa, who followed his own shot from the slot and batted in the rebound, to put Vancouver ahead 2-0 just over four minutes into the third period.

Dallas lost for the third time in the last four games and is in danger of losing the lead in the Pacific Division and falling from third to eighth in the Western Conference standings.

The Stars pulled to within one when Canucks goalie Cory Schneider was tripped up playing the puck behind the net. Vernon Fiddler jumped on a tricking puck and found the back of an empty Canucks goal at 7:44 of the final frame.

Schneider made 25 saves for his 17th win of the season. He also improved to 5 for 5 on penalty shots, stuffing Mike Ribeiro’s lackluster backhand attempt after Ribeiro was awarded a penalty shot at 12:55 in the second period.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Daniel Sedin traveled back to Vancouver after suffering a head injury Wednesday. … Dallas killed all four Vancouver power plays and has extinguished 61 of its opponents’ last 65 power plays.
