Bruins 4, Blue Jackets 3 (SO): Alexander Khokhlachev scored the lone goal in the seventh round of the shootout as visiting Boston overcame an early deficit to defeat Columbus for the seventh straight time.

After the Bruins outshot the Blue Jackets 7-1 in a fruitless overtime, Niklas Svedberg (25 saves) and Sergei Bobrovsky denied the first three shooters in the bonus format before Nick Foligno and defenseman Torey Krug each hit the iron in the fifth round. Khokhlachev, who was an emergency recall from Providence of the American Hockey League and playing in his second career game, skated in and wristed a shot between the pads of Bobrovsky (38 saves) to end the contest.

Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg scored from the neutral zone and Matt Fraser and Daniel Paille also tallied in the third period for the Bruins, who have won eight of their last 10 overall while improving to 6-1-2 all-time in the Buckeye State. Blue-liner Matt Barkowski, who played collegiately at Ohio State, notched a pair of assists in the victory.

Ryan Johansen collected a goal and two assists and Nick Foligno netted his team-leading 10th tally for the Blue Jackets, who have dropped 11 of 13 (2-9-2) and six of seven at home. Jack Johnson also scored and fellow defenseman Jordan Leopold had an assist for his first point of the season.

After Johansen and Foligno scored 98 seconds apart midway into the first period, Boston trimmed the deficit as Seidenberg's blast from just inside the center line handcuffed Bobrovsky at 1:28 of the third. Fraser redirected Bartkowski's slap-pass past the netminder at 9:33, Paille's turnaround shot gave the Bruins a 3-2 lead two minutes later before Johnson's one-timer from the left circle forged a tie at 12:47.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Boston C Patrice Bergeron nearly scored for the third straight game early in the first period when his wrist shot from the slot trickled past Bobrovsky, but Columbus D Dalton Prout alertly swept the puck away as it inched closer to the goal line. ... Johansen opened the scoring 9:52 into the first period after blocking Bruins D Kevan Miller's bid from the blue line and chasing down a loose puck before wristing a shot past Svedberg. Foligno doubled the advantage 98 seconds later as he deflected Leopold's shot from the point. ... Blue Jackets LW Matt Calvert logged 14:58 of ice time in his return after missing nine games with an upper-body injury.
