Marc-Andre Fleury made 34 saves and Evgeni Malkin connected in the shootout to lift Pittsburgh in the second stop of its five-game road trip.

Evander Kane netted a goal and set up another while captain Andrew Ladd and defenseman Jacob Trouba also scored for the Jets, who had their three-game winning streak snapped but ran their point streak to seven games (5-0-2). Blake Wheeler collected a pair of assists and Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 32 shots in falling to 2-13-0 lifetime against the Penguins.

Sutter snapped a 1-1 tie 6:50 into the second period, knifing past Winnipeg's defense and beating Pavelec with a forehand shot. Downie extended the lead with 2:56 left in the session, coming out of the penalty box and tucking a backhander behind Pavelec, but Trouba answered 84 seconds later with a blistering slap shot with the teams playing 4-on-4.

Kane drew the Jets even when he was sent in on a breakaway by Wheeler 3:55 into the third for his first tally of the season and the 100th of his career. Pittsburgh's top-ranked power play, on an 11-for-24 roll over the previous five games, got two more chances in regulation but could not convert and wound up 0-for-5.
