Stars 4, Blues 2: Colton Sceviour recorded his first career two-goal performance as Dallas began its five-game road trip by topping Western Conference-leading St. Louis.

Cody Eakin and Antoine Roussel each notched a goal and an assist for the Stars, who climbed within one point of Phoenix for the second wild card in the West. Shawn Horcoff and defenseman Jordie Benn set up two tallies apiece while Kari Lehtonen stopped 33 shots.

Alex Steen scored a pair of power-play goals for the Blues, who fell one point behind Boston in the race for the Presidents' Trophy. Blue-liner Kevin Shattenkirk recorded two assists and Ryan Miller finished with 23 saves for St. Louis, which holds a seven-point lead over Colorado in the Central Division.

Sceviour opened the scoring 3:53 into the contest, converting Horcoff's pass from the left corner, and doubled the lead at 7:21 of the second period on a deflection in front. Steen halved the deficit with 5:44 left in the session by tipping defenseman Alex Pietrangelo's blast from the right point past Lehtonen, but Eakin answered with a tip of his own 25 seconds later to restore the two-goal advantage.

The Blues again closed within one just 49 seconds into the third, when Steen drilled a one-timer from the top of the right faceoff circle past Lehtonen. Roussel created breathing room just over seven minutes later as he chased down a loose puck and drove to the net before beating Miller.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Steen's two-goal effort was his sixth of the season. ... Dallas C Tyler Seguin had his 11-game point streak come to an end. ... St. Louis had gone 8-0-2 in its previous 10 home games.
