Islanders 7, Canucks 4: Josh Bailey, Ryan Strome and defenseman Calvin de Haan scored power-play goals 2:23 apart early in the third to ignite a franchise record-tying seven-goal period as visiting New York rallied to salvage a split of its four-game road trip.
Frans Nielsen, Matt Martin, Anders Lee and Cal Clutterbuck also tallied for the Islanders, who squandered two-goal leads in the third period in their previous two games. Bailey, Nielsen and Lee each added an assist, Kyle Okposo collected three and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 20 shots.
Chris Higgins recorded a goal and an assist while captain Henrik Sedin, Ryan Kesler and defenseman Chris Tanev also scored for the Canucks, who have lost five of six (1-4-1). Eddie Lack finished with 21 saves.
Vancouver carried a 3-0 lead into the third as Higgins converted a power-play chance late in the first session before Sedin and Kesler scored 4:01 apart in the second. But a parade to the penalty box that began late in the middle period allowed New York to get back into the game, with Bailey beginning the outburst 1:13 into the third with his sixth tally.
Strome scored from alone on the left side during a 5-on-3 advantage at 3:14 and de Haan forged a tie with a shot from the left point 22 seconds later. Nielsen buried a loose puck in the left faceoff circle at 6:22 and, just 10 seconds after Tanev knotted it again at 9:54, Martin fired a backhander from the top of the slot inside the right post to put the Islanders ahead for good.
