Flames 4, Senators 1: Markus Granlund scored his first career goal and Joni Ortio made 30 saves for his first NHL victory as host Calgary handed Ottawa its second loss in two days.

Paul Byron and Joe Colborne also tallied while captain Mark Giordano and rookie Sean Monahan each notched a pair of assists for the Flames, who scored more than two goals for just the second time in seven games. After surviving the trade deadline, Mike Cammalleri sealed the win with his 15th tally.

Kyle Turris netted the lone goal for the Senators, who dropped to 1-2-0 on their four-game road trip after also falling in Edmonton on Tuesday. Craig Anderson turned aside 24 shots as Ottawa lost for the fourth time in five overall contests.

Granlund gave Calgary an early lead, beating Anderson from the slot 2:04 into the contest. Max Reinhart earned his first assist of the season as he created a turnover and unleashed a shot that deflected right to Granlund.

Byron redirected Giordano's pass into the net from the slot at 9:12 of the second session for his first career power-play goal and Colborne converted a nifty feed from Jiri Hudler 8:01 later to make it 3-0. Turris got Ottawa on the board midway through the third, but Cammalleri tallied during a man advantage 58 seconds later to restore the three-goal lead.
