CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. -- Miami snagged its sixth win to become bowl eligible in a 34-14 triumph over Virginia on Saturday afternoon at Scott Stadium.

The Hurricanes held the Cavaliers to 289 total yards en route to the 20-point win.

After Virginia (2-8, 1-5) scored the game's first touchdown via a 2-yard run from running back Taquan Mizzell, Miami responded with 17 straight points to grab a 10-point advantage.

Miami (6-4, 3-3) took a 17-14 lead into the halftime break and never looked back from there as the Cavaliers failed to score in the game's final 30 minutes.

Quarterback Brad Kaaya threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns and hooked up with wide receiver Ahmmon Richards three times for 100 yards. Running back Mark Walton tallied 111 yards on 16 carries to help pace a Hurricanes offense that racked up 450 yards on the day.

Virginia continued its struggles under first-year head coach Bronco Mendenhall as the Cavaliers turned the ball over four times on the day. Mizzell was the lone bright spot as he recorded over 100 total yards and became the first player in ACC history to tally 1,500 rushing and 1,500 receiving yards in a career.

Miami will travel to N.C. State next week to take on the Wolfpack while Virginia will head south to play Georgia Tech.
