Senior quarterback Greg Windham passed for 167 yards and added a game-high 146 yards rushing on Saturday to help Ohio upend Kansas 37-21 at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kan.

Junior running back Dorian Brown added 122 yards on 20 carries as the Bobcats of the Mid-American Conference improved to 1-1.

Ohio entered the game 5-20 all-time against Big 12 opponents, but handed the Jayhawks their 15th consecutive defeat against a Bowl Subdivision opponent.

After beating Rhode Island to end the nation's longest major-college losing streak at 15 games) a week earlier, the Jayhawks (1-1) fell behind 25-0 in the first half.

Kansas stiffened defensively and made a charge behind touchdown passes of 74 and 22 yards from junior quarterback Montell Cozart to sophomore wide receiver Steven Sims.

The second score pulled the Jayhawks to within 31-21 with 1:48 left in the third quarter.

Cozart was stood up and hit hard early in the fourth quarter on a third-down rush. He returned to the sideline after being taken to the locker room, but did not re-enter.

Cozart passed for 198 yards, going 17 of 24. The Jayhawks rushed for only 26 yards.

The victory was the seventh for Ohio coach Frank Solich in as many tries against Kansas. Solich went 6-0 as Nebraska's coach against the Jayhawks.

Freshman kicker Louie Zervos made all five field goals he attempted for the Bobcats. The last kick, a 22-yarder, capped an 18-play drive that drained 10-plus minutes off the clock in the fourth quarter.

Ohio converted four third downs on the possession, scoring with 3:24 remaining.

The Bobcats dominated the first quarter, gaining 250 yards while holding Kansas to four yards on eight snaps.

Ohio bolted to their big lead behind a 4-yard touchdown pass from Windham to Mason Morgan and a 23-yard scoring keeper by Windham, who rushed 16 times while going 19-of-36 passing.

The fifth-year senior quarterback had only drawn his first career start the week before in a triple-overtime loss to North Texas.

In that game Windham fired four touchdown passes and accounted for 430 total yards, but the Bobcats blew a 10-point lead by allowing 42 points after halftime.

Ohio also managed a first-quarter safety when linebacker Chad Moore stuffed Kansas running back Ke'aun Kinner in the end zone.

The Jayhawks' only first-half score came on a 99-yard kickoff return by LaQuivionte Gonzalez, a junior transfer from Texas A&M.

The Bobcats responded to with a 22-yard field goal by Zervos after Gonzalez muffed a punt and Ohio recovered. The field goal was the second in the half by Zervos.

The Bobcats closed the first half with a 359-21 command in total yardage, generating 18 first downs to only one for the Jayhawks.
