North Carolina 28, Virginia 27: Mitch Trubisky came off the bench to throw a 16-yard scoring pass to T.J. Thorpe with 4:05 to play and the visiting Tar Heels shocked the Cavaliers in an ACC contest.

Following the Thorpe score, North Carolina shocked Virginia by recovering an onside kick and managed to run out the clock – aided by an illegal substitution penalty on a fourth down with 1:17 to play. Trubisky's scoring pass was his only play of the game.

Marquise Williams threw a pair of long touchdown passes and added a 52-yard touchdown run for North Carolina (4-4, 2-2 ACC), which has won five straight in the series. Williams, who finished 15-for-28 for 259 yards, wasn't on the field for the game-winning score as he was forced to the sidelines after losing his helmet on a sack on the prior play.

Greyson Lambert threw a pair of touchdown passes for Virginia (4-4, 2-2) which lost its second straight. Lambert, who sat out the past three games with an ankle injury, was 20-for-40 for 261 yards, but his costly interception with just over six minutes remaining set up the Tar Heels' final score.

Mack Hollins caught touchdown passes of 57 and 63 yards in the first half as North Carolina rallied from a 14-point deficit to tie the game at 21-21. Virginia, which got a 31-yard scoring reception by Canaan Severin and a 2-yard TD run by Kevin Parks in the first quarter, reclaimed the lead on a field goal by Ian Frye late in the first half.
