Washington State 31, Washington 28 (OT): Andrew Furney drilled a 45-yard field to tie the contest before connecting from 27 yards out in overtime as the host Cougars overcame an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit to win the 50th edition of the Apple Cup.

After Washington's Travis Coons sent his 35-yard field goal wide right as time expired in regulation, Washington State nose tackle Kalafitoni Pole intercepted Keith Price's ill-advised pass on the first play of overtime.

Furney capped the stunning rally by splitting the uprights as Washington State (3-9, 1-8 Pac-12) snapped an eight-game losing skid and prevented its second winless conference mark in four years.

After Bishop Sankey recorded his second touchdown to give the Huskies a 28-10 advantage, Carl Winston scored his second and third touchdowns of the day to bring the Cougars within three. Furney then brought Washington State even by calmly splitting the uprights with 1:59 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Price tossed touchdown passes to John Mackey Award finalist Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Cody Bruns for Washington (7-5, 5-4), which fell short in its bid to record its first five-game winning streak in 12 years.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Seferian-Jenkins is joined by Stanford's Zach Ertz and Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert as finalists for the John Mackey Award, which goes to the top tight end in the nation. ... Washington owns a 35-15 edge in the Apple Cup. ... Winston's initial touchdown was Washington State's first on the ground since Sept. 29 versus Oregon.
