Indiana 24, Indiana State 17: Tre Roberson passed for a career-high 280 yards and the Hoosiers held off a rally by the visiting Sycamores.

Roberson, a sophomore, threw for one score and ran for what proved to be the winning points in the third quarter. He completed 26 of 36 passes.

Indiana State, which got 192 yards rushing from Shakir Bell, drove into Hoosiers territory in the final minutes before failing on fourth down at the 41-yard line.

Bell ran 54 yards to give the Sycamores the lead with 6:28 left in the first quarter, but the Hoosiers responded quickly.

Roberson connected with Shane Wynn for a 71-yard scoring strike 53 seconds later and Indiana took the lead on Stephen Houston’s 15-yard touchdown run 1:07 into the second. The Hoosiers managed a 17-10 halftime lead.

Roberson ran 1 yard to put Indiana up 24-10, but the Sycamores wouldn’t go away. Mike Perish found fullback Austen Wozniak for 23 yards and a score on fourth down and one with 5:14 left in the third quarter.
