Matt Barkley passed for four touchdowns and Southern Cal ended No. 4 Oregon's national championship hopes with a 38-35 upset of the host Ducks on Saturday.

Southern Cal (9-2, 6-2 Pac-12) held off a furious second-half rally by Oregon (9-2, 7-1), who failed to get the game to overtime when Alejandro Maldonado missed a 47-yard field goal with no time remaining.

Oregon, which saw its 21-game home winning streak end, trailed 38-14 with 4:07 left in the third quarter. De'Anthony Thomas sparked the Ducks' rally with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Barkley, who threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns in the first half, finished 26-of-35 for 323 yards.

Oregon's Kenjon Barner had 16 carries for 127 yards and a touchdown, while Heisman Trophy candidate LaMichael James was held to 74 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
