Donnie Fletcher’s interception in the end zone with 6:43 remaining helped Boston College preserve a surprising 14-10 victory over visiting North Carolina State on Saturday.

The Eagles (3-7, 2-5 ACC) also stopped the Wolfpack’s final drive at the Boston College 27 when Max Holloway blocked Mike Glennon’s pass on fourth down with 1:10 left.

Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly had 18 tackles to surpass 500 in his career and extended his streak of games with double-digit tackles to 32.

Tom O’Brien, the leader in all-time coaching wins at Boston College, is 1-4 against the Eagles since becoming N.C. State coach in 2007.

N.C. State (5-5, 2-4) shut out North Carolina last week, but it only took Boston College 2:03 to end the Wolfpack’s chance for two straight. Backup quarterback Josh Bordner ran three yards up the middle for a score to cap a five-play, 66-yard drive.

Chase Rettig connected with Colin Larmond on a 17-yard scoring strike with 1:40 left in the second quarter to give the Eagles a 14-3 halftime lead. Rettig was 7-for-8 in the first half - his only miss was David Amerson’s 10th interception of the season.

Boston College held the Wolfpack to five first downs and four yards rushing in the first half.
