Denard Robinson overcame a shaky first half as No. 11 Michigan roared back for a 42-24 win at Northwestern on Saturday evening.

Robinson had three first-half passes intercepted as the Wolverines (6-0, 2-0 Big Ten) went into halftime facing a 24-14 deficit, but the tables turned in the second half. Two turnovers by the Wildcats (2-3, 0-2) set up scoring drives of 47 and 58 yards.

Michigan opened the third period with consecutive 80-yard touchdown drives, capped by quarterback keepers from Robinson and Devin Gardner, respectively. Robinson finished the night 17-of-26 passing for 325 yards and a pair of scores, adding a game-high 117 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground.

Northwestern closed the first half with a flurry, taking a 21-14 lead on a 2-yard touchdown run by Adonis Smith and following a Brian Peters interception with a 20-yard field goal by Jeff Budzien as time expired in the second quarter.

The Wolverines improved to 6-0 for the sixth time since 1976. On each of the previous five occasions, the team finished the season playing the Rose Bowl.
