Kevin Prince replaced injured Richard Brehaut and threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to lead UCLA to a 28-25 victory over Washington State at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.

Prince connected on a 9-yard scoring pass to Josh Smith to cut an eight-point deficit to 22-20 early in the fourth quarter and fired a 7-yard touchdown pass to Shaquelle Evans with 3:26 to play.

The winning touchdown came three plays after Nelson Rosario's 58-yard one-handed catch. Rosario, who caught the two-point conversion to make it 28-25, finished with three catches for 120 yards.

Brehaut suffered a fractured left leg with 9:58 remaining in the second quarter. After being examined by the medical staff for several minutes on the sideline, Brehaut was carted off. He returned to the sideline in the second half on crutches.

Prince hadn’t played since suffering a concussion in a season-opening 38-34 loss to Houston on Sept. 3.

The Cougars (3-2, 1-1 Pac-12 North) dominated the first half, but led only 9-7 at intermission on three Andrew Furney field goals.

UCLA (3-3, 2-1 Pac-12 South) took a 14-9 lead when Derrick Coleman scored on a 1-yard plunge before Washington State answered with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Marshall Lobbestael to Jared Karstetter to take a 16-14 lead after three quarters.

Lobbestael notched his second touchdown pass of the game on the Cougars’ next possession when he hooked up with Rickey Galvin on a 21-yard score, but the extra point was blocked. All the Cougars could muster after that was a 47-yard field goal by Furney.
