Sanu finished with a school and Big East Conference record 16 receptions, including two touchdowns.

Chas Dodd threw three touchdowns, and Rutgers (2-1) broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter.

Rutgers never trailed, but couldn't put away Frank Solich's Bearcats (3-1), who closed with 28-20 on Matt Weller's field goal heading into the fourth quarter.

But Rutgers answered with a San San Te 44-yard field goal and an 11-yard touchdown pass to put the Scarlet Knights up by 18 with five minutes to play. Ohio played without injured starting running back Donte Harden and the offense struggled to maintain a consistent offensive rhythm. The Bobcats committed four turnovers, including a fumble on a punt return that was returned for a touchdown.

Tyler Tettleton threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers for Ohio.
