Tajh Boyd passed for a career-best four touchdowns, and host Clemson rallied from an early 14-point deficit Saturday to beat defending national champion Auburn 38-24.

The loss ends the 19th-ranked Tigers’ 17-game winning streak.

Boyd completed 30-of-42 passes for a career-high 386 yards for Clemson (3-0). The sophomore has passed for 10 touchdowns in three games.

Clemson trailed 21-7 midway through the second quarter before Boyd found Dwayne Allen on a 6-yard touchdown pass with 5:06 left. Andre Ellington’s 2-yard run with 1:11 to go tied the game at 21.

Clemson dominated the second half. Boyd hit Sammy Watkins on touchdown passes of 65 and 19 yards, the later with 16 seconds left in the third quarter to give Clemson a 35-24 advantage. Watkins caught 10 passes for 155 yards.

Down 38-24 in the fourth quarter, Auburn (2-1) drove deep into Clemson territory, but Coty Sensabaugh’s diving interception at the 6-yard-line ended the threat with 9:34 to go.

Auburn used a pair of Michael Dyer touchdown runs and Barrett Trotter’s 36-yard touchdown pass to Emory Blake to go ahead 21-7 with 8:54 left in the first half. Dyer finished with 151 yards on 16 carries.

Clemson plays host to No. 5 Florida State next Saturday, then travels Oct. 1 to No. 13 Virginia Tech. Auburn plays host to Florida Atlantic next Saturday, before playing four consecutive games against ranked teams.
