No. 25 Texas Christian bounced back from last week’s shocking loss to Baylor, holding Air Force’s vaunted running game in check Saturday in a 35-19 victory in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Horned Frogs (1-1, 1-0 Mountain West) who rallied from 24 points down last week only to lose 50-48 on a last-second field goal, never were threatened in this one. TCU quarterback Casey Pachall completed 20-of-25 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Matthew Tucker sparked the running game with 95 yards and two touchdowns.

After a 3-yard touchdown pass from Pachall to Luke Shivers with 6:13 left in the first quarter gave the Horned Frogs a 7-0 lead, Tucker scored on runs of 1 yard with 1:09 remaining in the first and 3 yards with 5:35 left before halftime, giving TCU a 21-0 lead.

Ahead 21-3 at halftime, TCU scored on Pachall’s 21-yard touchdown pass to David Porter III six minutes into the second half, and Waymon James’ 4-yard touchdown run late in the third en route to a 35-9 advantage.

Parker Herrington kicked two field goals for the Falcons, and Zack Kauth caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Warzeka. Conner Dietz rushed for a 1-yard score. Air Force rushed for 243 yards, one week after rushing for 391 yards against South Dakota.

The Horned Frogs played without starting linebacker Tanner Brock, who led TCU in tackles last season, and running back Ed Wesley. Both players aggravated injuries last week.

TCU opens a three-game homestand next Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe. Air Force is off next week, then plays host to Tennessee State on Sept. 24.
