Marshall Lobbestael passed for two touchdowns while filling in for injured Jeff Tuel as Washington State rolled to a 64-21 victory over visiting Idaho State on Saturday.

Lobbestael started the game when Tuel was hindered by a stomach virus and then returned when Tuel broke his left clavicle during his first series.

The Cougars scored the game’s first 47 points while easily beating the Bengals of the Football Championship Subdivision.There was no immediate word on how long Tuel will be sidelined. The junior passed for 2,780 yards and 18 touchdowns last season.

Lobbestael, a senior, passed for 230 yards. He threw touchdown passes of 27 yards to Isiah Barton in the first quarter and 61 yards to Marquess Wilson in the second quarter as the Cougars built a 40-0 halftime lead.

Linebacker Alex Hoffman-Ellis had a 67-yard interception return for touchdown in the opening quarter when Washington State scored 23 unanswered points. Rickey Galvin rushed for two touchdowns as the Cougars rolled up 282 yards on the ground.

Idaho State was playing its first game under new coach Mike Kramer. The loss was the 11th straight for the Bengals, who have won just one game in each of the past three seasons.

Idaho State quarterback Kevin Yost passed for 386 yards and Rodrick Rumble had 10 receptions for 218 yards.
