Terence Fells-Danzer, Keith Payne and Marc Verica each accounted for two touchdowns as Virginia beat its first Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A) opponent of the year, Eastern Michigan 48-21 on Saturday.

Fells-Danzer hauled in a 3-yard touchdown pass from Verica in the third quarter, and later returned a kickoff 70 yards. Payne rushed for 67 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns.

Verica completed 18 of 31 passes for 203 yards as the Cavaliers (3-4) erupted for 31 second-half points to break open a close game and snap a three-game losing streak.

The Eagles (1-7), from the Mid-American Conference, have lost 19 of their last 20 games.

Robert Randolph’s 24-yard field goal in the waning moments of the first half gave Virginia a 17-14 lead.

Javonti Greene rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns as the Eagles ran for 286 yards.

Virginia will look to snap its nine-game Atlantic Coast Conferencde losing skid next week when it hosts Miami.
