Miami, coming off a humiliating loss to rival Florida State, improved to 4-2 while handing the struggling Blue Devils their fifth consecutive loss.

Miami quarterback Jacory Harris completed 17-of-34 passes for 234 yards and a touchdown and running back Damien Berry rushed for 111 yards on 24 carries and scored a touchdown.

Miami intercepted Duke quarterback Sean Renfree five times and sacked him twice. Defensive lineman Micanor Regis returned a Renfree interception 22 yards on Duke’s first possession of the second half that stretched Miami’s lead to 21-3.

Duke narrowed the deficit to 21-10 on a 1-yard touchdown run by Brandon Connette six minutes into the second half, but a 1-yard scoring run by Berry gave the Hurricanes a 28-10 lead with 5 1/2 minutes left in the third.

Harris accounted for both of Miami’s first-half touchdowns after Duke had grabbed a 3-0 lead on a 25-yard field goal by Will Snyderwine. Harris connected with Leonard Hankerson on a 14-yard touchdown pass at the start of the second quarter and rushed for a 13-yard score to give the Hurricanes a 14-3 lead at halftime.
