Ed Wesley had two rushing touchdowns, Andy Dalton threw for a score, the defense pitched a shutout and fifth-ranked TCU beat Colorado State 27-0 in the Mountain West Conference opener for both teams.

TCU (5-0, 1-0) struggled early for the second consecutive game, getting only two field goals from Ross Evans in the first half.

In the second half, the Frogs’ offense came to life. On the first drive of the third quarter, TCU put together a five-play, 80-yard scoring drive, capped with an eight-yard touchdown run from Wesley.

Wesley added a three-yard touchdown later in the third quarter.

TCU sealed its victory in the fourth quarter, when Dalton connected with Jimmy Young on a 38-yard touchdown pass.

Although it wasn’t the blowout TCU had hoped for, it still outgained Colorado State 477-163 in the game and forced two turnovers.

TCU plays host to Wyoming at 3:30 p.m. next Saturday, while Colorado State (1-4, 0-1) is scheduled for a 2 p.m. kickoff at Air Force.
