Louisiana-Lafayette blocked a potential tying extra point with 33 seconds to play and nipped North Texas, 28-27 Saturday at Fouts Field in Denton, Texas.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (2-2, 2-1 Sun Belt) took a 28-14 lead into the fourth quarter, but watched as North Texas (1-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) rallied for two touchdowns in the final nine minutes.
North Texas quarterback Riley Dodge connected with Darius Carey on a 4-yard touchdown pass with 32 seconds to play to cut the deficit to one. But Trent Deans’ extra-point try was deflected, giving Louisiana its fourth straight win in the series.
Louisiana quarterback Chris Masson completed 16 of 30 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns.
The Ragin’ Cajuns managed only 55 yards rushing.
Dodge completed 22 of 30 passes for 195 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
