Evan Royster rushed for 186 yards and Colin Wagner kicked five field goals as Penn State came from behind to earn a 22-13 win over Temple on Saturday.

Michael Zordich added a 1-yard rushing touchdown and Robert Bolden passed for 222 yards for the Nittany Lions, who begin Big Ten play next weekend.

Wagner gave Penn State an early lead when he knocked a 45-yard field goal through to cap the first drive of the game. But the Owls, who entered the game without a loss, fought right back to take the lead on Bernard Pierce’s 5-yard rushing score.

Wagner cut it to 7-6 with another field goal later in the first, but Temple pulled away again when Pierce capped another drive with a 3-yard touchdown to make it 13-6 with 23 seconds left in the first.

The Nittany Lions still could do no better than field goals in the second and third, cutting it to 13-9 at the half and 13-12 with 4:17 remaining in the third. Two minutes later, they turned an interception into their first lead of the second half when Wagner booted a 21-yard kick through.

They finally broke through for a touchdown in the fourth, capping a 12-play drive with Zordich’s score with 3:52 left in the game.
