Arizona State 55, Utah 54: Jahii Carson sent the game into overtime with a 3-pointer and later hit a short jumper with 35 seconds left to play in the extra session to lift the host Sun Devils to victory in the Pac-12 Conference opener for both teams.

Carrick Felix led Arizona State (12-2) with 17 points, including 10 straight for the Sun Devils in the first half when they erased a six-point deficit. Carson scored 15 points and Jordan Bachynski added 14 for Arizona State, which has won four straight.

Arizona State tied the game at 49 on Carson's 3-pointer with 42 seconds left. Carson later missed another 3-pointer with four seconds to play in regulation. Utah took a 54-53 lead in the extra session on a 3-pointer by Jarred DuBois but the Utes (8-5) never scored again despite taking the final four shots of the game.

Jason Washburn led Utah with 19 points and 18 rebounds but the senior center missed a short jumper in traffic with two seconds to play in overtime. DuBois finished with 12 points.

Felix, who has scored in double figures in 13 straight games, added 13 rebounds for Arizona State, which finished 10th in the Pac-12 last season with a 6-12 conference mark.

GAME NOTEBOOK: It was the first time in five years that Arizona State has opened the conference season at home. ... Arizona State used a 14-2 run in the first half to take a six-point lead and led 25-24 at the half. ... The game featured a matchup of the Bachynski brothers, both seven-footers out of Calgary. Utah's Dallin Bachynski finished with just two points while battling foul trouble throughout the contest.
