Sophomore forward DJ Hogg scored 25 points to lead Texas A&M to a routine 95-73 victory over Cal State Northridge in Thursday's opening round of the 2016 Wooden Legacy in Fullerton, Calif.

The Aggies improved to 3-1 and will face either New Mexico or Virginia Tech on Friday at Titan Gym during the event's second round.

Hogg knocked down 9 of 12 shots, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range. Sophomore guard Admon Gilder added 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Texas A&M nearly had its best shooting game of the season, connecting on 53.1 percent (34 of 64) from the floor. The Aggies shot 53.6 percent against American on Nov. 14.

The Matadors (2-3) were led in scoring by a pair off the bench, with guard Michael Warren collecting a team-high 19 points and forward Tavrion Dawson scoring 14.

Junior center Dylan Johns, who played for the Aggies from 2013-15, had two points and one rebound board for Northridge.

The Aggies went on a game-turning 22-2 run to finish out the first half with a 53-28 lead. The Matadors had kept within striking distance for much of the half before going cold.

Guard JC Hampton made three of the Aggies' six 3-pointers in the opening half. Gilder had 11 points and Hogg had 10 at the break.

Dawson had 11 points at half. Matadors shot only 32.1 percent (9 of 28) during the first 20 minutes.

Texas A&M pushed its advantage to 30 points early in the second half and cruised from there, as coach Billy Kennedy substituted liberally. Ten Aggies played at least 12 minutes, with eight scoring at least eight points.
