STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State broke out to a big early lead Wednesday night and kept breaking away from New Orleans, finishing with a 117-72 rout at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The Cowboys finished with six double-figure scorers, led by Leyton Hammonds' 15 points.

Forward Erik Thomas led the Privateers with 18 points off the bench.

The Cowboys (3-0) matched the 1993-94 Oklahoma State squad as the only teams in school history to score 100 points in three straight games.

New Orleans, falling to 1-1, trailed 26-10 just over seven minutes in. And it only got worse. The Cowboys soon extended the lead to 38-12 and 65-29 before heading to halftime up 68-36, setting a school record for points in a first half.

The 68 first-half points were more than last year's Oklahoma State team managed in 17 full games, including 10 in a row during one stretch of the season.

For the Cowboys, production came up and down the roster. Behind Hammonds, guard Jeffrey Carroll had 14 points, and guards Phil Forte had Jawun Evans added 13 each. Guard Lindy Waters and center Lucas N'Guessan followed with 11 each.

Hammonds added a game-high 14 rebounds, more than any two New Orleans players combined.

The Privateers shot just 43 percent from the floor and committed 23 turnovers. Along with Thomas, guard Jorge Rosa added 14 points and Christavious Gill 10.

Hammonds nearly had a double-double by halftime, going to the break with 13 points and nine rebounds. Carroll led Oklahoma State with 14 off the bench, one of nine Cowboys to score in the first 20 minutes.

The Privateers only got 14 points from their starters in the first half. Thomas and guard Jorge Rosa combined for 17 off the bench.
