The Nittany Lions (9-6, 1-1) shook off pre-game flu symptoms and took command in the second half to hand the Scarlet Knights (11-4, 0-2) their third straight loss.

Mike Williams collected 16 points and 10 rebounds while Corey Sanders added 10 points as Rutgers saw a nine-game home winning streak snapped.

Both teams shot poorly to start, managing a collective 2-of-12 from 3 point range in the opening 10 minutes as the teams deadlocked at 9-9. Penn State was just 2-of-14 overall in that span.

Rutgers used a 7-0 run for a 16-12 lead while Penn State replied with eight unanswered points -- including a pair of Banks 3-pointers -- for a 25-20 edge with 2:24 left in the half.

Carr had 10 first-half points while Banks had nine as Penn State led 27-23 at intermission.

The Nittany Lions broke the game open with a 18-2 run during a just under five-minute span for a 47-29 lead with 12:49 to play. The Scarlet Knights got no closer than 11 points the rest of the way.

Penn State shot 20-of-55 (36.4 percent) from the field and hit 7-of-22 (31.8 percent) on 3-point tries. Rutgers was 18-of-63 (28.6 percent) from the field and had just 3-of-20 (15 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc.
