California used a 11-1 run keyed by guard Charlie Moore late in the second half to take the lead for good as it pulled away late to beat Princeton 62-51 at the Pearl Harbor Invitational in Honolulu, HI on Tuesday.

The Tigers (2-4) led 46-44 after a three-pointer by forward Henry Caruso with 7:47 to play. But the Golden Bears (7-1) scored 11 of the next 12 points to jump ahead by eight, 55-47. Moore scored the first nine of those points and assisted on the remaining basket.

Princeton cut the margin back to four at 55-51, but the Tigers then went cold and the Golden Bears closed the game making seven of their last eight free throw attempts to secure its fifth consecutive victory. The 11-point final margin marked the biggest lead for either team all game.

Moore had 15 points to lead California, making six of his nine shots from the floor. Guard Jabari Bird came off the bench to score 13 points, with guards Sam Singer and Grant Mullins each adding 11. Forward Ivan Rabb struggled from the floor, but pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked a pair of shots.

Princeton guard Devin Cannady led all scorers with 16 points. Twelve of those came in the first half, staking Princeton to a 20-18 at the break. But the Tigers made just five of their 26 three-point attempts, including a 1-for-11 performance in the first half.

California dominated the glass, outrebounding the Tigers 49-33. But the Golden Bears gave away a lot of points at the line. Prior to the game-ending stretch, the team had made just two of its 13 free throw attempts in the second half.
