Freshman guard Bruce Brown posted just the second triple-double in Miami history as the Hurricanes toyed with South Carolina State in Coral Gables, Fla., Tuesday night, leading from start to finish in an 82-46 victory.

Brown scored 11 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and handed out 10 assists in 30 minutes to put his name in the record book beside that of Anthony King, who recorded Miami's first triple-double on Nov. 29, 2004, with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 blocked shots against Florida Atlantic.

Freshman guard DJ Vasiljevic led all scorers with 17 points as the Hurricanes (7-2) shot 53.4 percent to South Carolina State's 29.5 and dominated the boards by a margin of 45-30. Guard Davon Reed added 15 and guard Ja'Quan Newton matched Brown in scoring with 11.

Guard Eric Eaves led the Bulldogs (2-6) with 14 points. Forward Tashombe Riley added 12.

Miami scored the game's first 18 points, making seven of eight shots as the Bulldogs missed their first 10 attempts from the field. Riley finally broke the drought for the visitors with a jumper at the 13:27 mark.

The Hurricanes eventually worked their way to their first 28-point lead, 34-6, with under seven minutes left in the period and held that margin at the break, 42-14 on guard/forward Anthony Lawrence's 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The 14 points scored by South Carolina State in the first 20 minutes were the fewest in a half for a Miami opponent since Jan. 13, 2013, when Maryland managed only 14 in the first half of a 54-47 Hurricanes' win.

The Hurricanes had their biggest lead, 39 points at 81-42 with 2:59 remaining.
