Devin Morgan scored 26 points and Delaware State pulled away from St. John's for a 79-72 win on the road at Carnesecca Arena on Tuesday night.

It was the fourth consecutive loss for St. John's and just the second win of the season for Delaware State -- its first against a Division-I opponent. The Hornets shot 58.2 percent from the floor, 53.3 percent from 3-point range and had three players in double figures.

Meanwhile, St. John's struggled to a 38.5 shooting percentage. Junior guard Bashir Ahmed led the Red Storm with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including four made 3-pointers.

Freshman guards Shamorie Ponds (15 points), Marcus LoVett (13 points) and sophomore guard Federico Mussini (11 points) all scored in double figures for St. John's, but the trio needed a combined 41 field goal attempts to get there.

The Delaware State offense was led by Morgan, a sophomore guard. He went 9-for-13 from the floor and hit half of his six 3-pointers, while grabbing four rebounds and dishing out four assists.

The Hornets (2-5) also got 16 points and six rebounds from sophomore forward DeVaughn Mallory and another 15 points, six boards and four assists from junior forward Kavon Walker. The win snapped a five-game skid for Delaware State. The team's previous win came in its opener against Division-III Summit.

It was the first loss of the season at home for Chris Mullin's St. John's team, which lost consecutive games to Michigan State, VCU and Old Dominion last week in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Red Storm also have a road loss to Minnesota and have not won since topping Binghamton at Carnesecca Arena on Nov. 14.
