Center Ben Lammers scored 19 points to lead five Georgia Tech players in double figures as the Yellow Jackets earned a 81-73 win over Sam Houston University on Tuesday at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta.

Lammers, a 6-foot-10 junior from San Antonio, shot 6 of 8 from the field and added seven rebounds and five blocked shots.

Georgia Tech (3-1) also got 16 points from guard Josh Okogie, 15 points from guard Tadric Jackson, 10 points and 10 rebounds from forward Quinton Stephens, and a career-high 10 points from guard Corey Heyward.

Sam Houston (3-2) was led by guard John Dewey III with 15 points and six assists. Guard Dakarai Henderson finished with 12 points, including three 3-pointers. Terry Butler came off the bench to score 10.

Georgia Tech took command early in the first half, despite going nearly five minutes without scoring. The Yellow Jackets scored 17 unanswered points and led 28-9 before Butler ended the drought by hitting a short jumper with 3:54 left in the half.

Georgia Tech led 40-20 at halftime.

Sam Houston shot the ball better to start the second half and got as close as 55-47 with 8:49 left, only to have the Yellow Jackets score six consecutive points to regain control.

Georgia Tech plays at home again Saturday against Tulane, when the Yellow Jackets will get point guard Josh Heath back from a four-game suspension for a violation of team rules. Sam Houston returns home to play Idaho on Friday.
