The Seton Hall Pirates picked up an enormous road victory on Thursday, defeating Iowa 91-83 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in one of the contests associated with the Gavitt Games between the Big Ten and Big East conferences.

Despite starting the game by missing seven of its first eight shots, Seton Hall (3-0) shot the ball well all night, particularly in the second half when the Pirates were 19-of-29 shooting from the floor.

In particular, Seton Hall had a trio of guys score at least 20 points including freshman guard Myles Powell's team-high 28 points while playing 28 minutes off the bench. Powell put the game out of reach for good by scoring eight straight points late in the second half, with the last bucket being a 3-pointer that put the Pirates ahead by 10 points with just over two minutes left.

Junior forward Desi Rodriguez finished with 25 points, with 20 of those points coming on 7-of-8 shooting during the second half. Junior guard Khadeen Carrington finished with 20 points to round out the bulk of the Pirates' scoring.

As for Iowa (2-1), it received strong performances from senior guard Peter Jok and freshman forward Tyler Cook. Jok finished with a double-double consisting of 30 points and 11 rebounds, both of which were game highs. Cook, in just his third collegiate game, dropped 24 points in defeat for the Hawkeyes.

While defense was an issue throughout the evening, it wasn't the only issue Iowa had en route to its first defeat. The Hawkeyes also missed 13 attempts from the foul line and shot an anemic 59 percent from the charity stripe.

Iowa concludes a four-game home stand Nov. 20 against Texas-Rio Grande Valley before taking part in the Emerald Coast Classic next weekend in Destin, Fla. Seton Hall's next contest comes Thanksgiving Day against Florida in the first round of the Advocare Invitational taking place in Orlando, Fla.
