Pittsburgh won its debut under new coach Gene Stallings, going into double overtime to defeat visiting Eastern Michigan 93-90 on Friday night.

Pittsburgh forward Jamel Artis, who scored a game-high 27 points, made two free throws with five seconds left in double overtime to give the Panthers a 93-90 lead.

Eastern Michigan guard Ty Toney missed a 3-pointer with three seconds left and guard Ray Lee grabbed the offensive rebound but couldn't get a shot off before the buzzer.

Artis made two free throws in the second overtime to put the Panthers ahead 91-87, but Lee answered with a 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining. Toney fouled Artis, who made the clinching free throws. Artis also made a free throw with 32 seconds left in the first overtime that tied the score at 83 and forced the second overtime.

Lee led the Eagles with 27 points on 9-of-22 shooting from the field and 7 of 7 from the free-throw line.

Pitt forward Michael Young contributed 26 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Pitt outscored Eastern Michigan 35-19 from the free-throw line. The Panthers made 35 of 45 from the foul line and the Eagles were 19 of 23.

The Eagles committed 30 fouls in the game and three players were disqualified on fouls, including guard Tim Bond, who finished with 21 points.

Pittsburgh never trailed in the game until Lee made a free throw with 4:27 left in the first overtime to give Eastern Michigan a 75-74 lead.
