CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Sophomore center Ebuku Izundu scored a career-high 14 points in just 13 minutes and Miami led from start to finish in routing Western Carolina 92-43 on Friday night at Coral Gables, Fla.

Izundu did all his scoring in the second half after picking up two fouls in the game's first minute and going to the bench. Forward Kamari Murphy, guard Ja'Quan Newton, and forward Dewan Huell scored 13 points each and guard DJ Vasiljevic added 11 for Miami.

Guard Deriece Parks led Western Carolina with 10 points.

The Hurricanes shot 50.0 percent from the field and scored the first seven points of the game. They ran out to an early 15-2 advantage with just under 12 minutes left in the first half.

After the Catamounts got their second bucket on forward Orino Steger's jumper that made it 15-4, the Hurricanes worked their way out to a 16-point lead, 24-8, over the next four minutes and continued on from there.

Miami scored the first 14 points of the second half to complete an 18-0 run and extend a 41-18 halftime margin to 55-18 to before the visitors broke the run on forward Yalim Olcay's driving bank shot. The onslaught continued from there.

The Catamounts struggled with shooting, hitting only 28.5 percent from the field, and with foul problems. They had one starter (forward Mark Gosselin) with four personals and two others (guard Devin Peterson and forward Charlendez Brooks) with three each less than 12 minutes into the game.

Olcay, who had only one foul in the first half, was the first to foul out, however, leaving with 10:10 left.

Western Carolina ended up with 29 personals to Miami's 15 for the night.
