Junior forward Yante Maten scored 21 points and Georgia handled struggling Vanderbilt in a 76-68 victorty Tuesday at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga.

Maten led four Bulldog starters in double figures, with senior point guard J.J. Frazier finishing with 15 points, six rebounds and five assists. Junior guard Juwan Parker added 17 points for Georgia (12-6, 4-2 SEC).

Vanderbilt junior guard Matthew Fisher-Davis, the Commodores' leading scorer, did not start for disciplinary reasons and never completely got going after entering the game in the first half. Fisher-Davis finished with nine points and hit 1 of 7 from 3-point range.

Senior forward Luke Kornet led the Commodores with 19 points. Vanderbilt (8-9, 2-4 SEC) lost its fourth straight.

Vanderbilt made an early push in the second half and trimmed the deficit to 42-39 on a 3-pointer by Jeff Roberson. But Georgia answered every Commodore challenge down the stretch and bounced back from a hard-fought loss at No. 19 Florida.

A swished 3-pointer from Frazier put the Bulldogs up 58-46 with nine minutes to play. They maintained a double-digit lead until late in the game.

A 3-pointer from Riley LaChance that came off an offensive rebound and kick-out gave the Commodores life, down 65-60 with 2:15 left. But Maten, Frazier and Parker made enough free throws in the final minutes to hold off Vanderbilt.

Georgia led 19-11 after Maten stepped out of the paint to knock down a 3-pointer with 7:33 left in the first half. Maten hit another 3-pointer later in the first half, and the Bulldogs led 34-25 at halftime.

Vanderbilt went more than three minutes without a basket during one stretch in the first half and made only 1 of 9 from beyond the arc before intermission. The Commodores entered the game leading the SEC in 3-point shooting.

It doesn't get any easier for the Commodores, who travel to Florida on Saturday. Georgia heads to Texas A&M on Saturday.
