Texas A&M scored the first basket of the game and never relinquished the lead as it routed LSU 92-62 to get its first SEC win Wednesday night at the Reed Arena in College Station, Texas.

The Aggies built an early 16-point lead, regained that margin at halftime and steadily increased it early in the second half.

Texas A&M (9-6, 1-3) plays at Mississippi State on Saturday. The Tigers (9-6, 1-3) host Alabama on Saturday.

Admon Gilder and Tonny Trocha-Morelos led the Aggies with 14 points each, Robert Williams and Chris Collins scored 12 each and DJ Hogg had 10.

Antonio Blakeney was the only LSU player to score in double figures, finishing with 17 points.

The Aggies shot 56.7 percent (34-of-60) from the floor and the Tigers shot 36.8 percent (25-of-68).

LSU coach Johnny Jones made three changes to his starting lineup, inserting guards Jalyn Patterson and Branden Jenkins as well as forward Wayde Sims in search of improved defense, but the Tigers struggled on both ends.

The Aggies scored on each of their first eight possessions of the second half to take command with a 61-34 lead.

The margin surpassed 30 points at 71-40 midway through the second half.

Texas A&M scored the first six points of the game and took a 10-2 lead as LSU committed six fouls. Six Aggies had scored by the time they took a 19-3 lead.

A basket by Duop Reath got the Tigers offense going and six teammates also scored as LSU cut the deficit to 27-22.

Williams scored six points as Texas A&M rebuilt the lead to 43-27 at halftime.

The Aggies finished the half much as they started it, closing on a 16-5 run as the Tigers failed to make a field goal during the final 5:09.
