Junior guard Ahmed Hill scored 20 points, including some clutch free throws in the final seconds, and the Hokies survived a late flurry from Ole Miss to register an 80-75 win Sunday at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va.

Zach LeDay finished with 15 points off the bench, and Chris Clarke added 12 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Hokies (8-1), who improved to 5-0 at home.

Ole Miss senior forward Sebastian Saiz had a game-high 21 points, and Davis finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Rebels (6-3), who were playing their first true road game.

Virginia Tech was up 68-54 with five minutes to play, before the Rebels made a late run. Rasheed Brooks and Cullen Neal each hit 3-pointers during a 14-3 run. Neal's 3-pointer cut the Hokies' lead to 71-68 with 1:47 left.

Terence Davis continued the Rebels' late 3-point barrage, drilling another trey with 15 seconds left to get Ole Miss within two. But Hill hit four straight free throws in the final 15 seconds to help the Hokies survive and earn another quality nonconference win. Virginia Tech also has wins over Michigan and Nebraska this season.

The Hokies grabbed the lead early in the first half. Clarke's three-point play put Virginia Tech ahead 22-13 at the 12-minute mark of the first half. Ole Miss battled back and trailed 33-32 at intermission.

Ole Miss returns home for four straight games, beginning with a Dec. 15 tilt against Murray State. The Rebels open SEC play against No. 6 Kentucky on Dec. 29.

Virginia Tech has three nonconference games left before opening ACC play against No. 5 Duke on Dec. 31. The Hokies will host The Citadel on Saturday.
